Seriously, look below at that effort of FEEDBACK. They are clearly working up a sweat.

To be clear, I never saw them do much more than yawn, but that was many yrs later.

Not being critical, but seriously, that was some energy level.

Carry on.

I've always loved this picture and it's my understanding that it's close to my backyard. I seem to remember seeing this published a few places where they said it was 8-4-68 at the Orange County Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa, CA. It was the first annual Newport Pop Festival w/ the Airplane, Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Byrds, Big Brother, and a slew of others. Judging by the crowd of folks in the background, I'd say that this could be the case.

Killer pic indeed!

By their appearances, I would think that date is right (ie, summer, 68, socal), so your speculation/history search may be spot on.

Subject: Reel n Rockin' 1966 Rules
One of the great years in pop music history, before things got oversaturated so to say: 1966.

This is an amazing reel(s) of flat out smokin' ballroom bar band Grateful Dead - the real mcCoy.

It's all good, yet...
I'd trade all my 1970 and up Dead concert attendances for the time machine trip that would let me spend just one evening like this one...

Goodnight Chet.
